Cnephalia multisetosa Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 41 (key), 43 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in colle ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hill ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (thorax partially eaten by dermestids, missing right fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 9): Cnephalia Rndn. / multisetosa Rnd. , ♂ / 475.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Spallanzania multisetosa ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 262, Pape et al. 1995: 23; O’Hara et al. 2020: 509).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 43) described Cnephalia multisetosa from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Maris longit. … Semel captus [Length of the male… Collected once]”. We found one male syntype in this study. The MZUF also contains a (non-type) female numbered “475”.
