REMARKS: nomen nudum. Rondani (1865a: 135) described the new species Pelecocera quadricincta separating it from Pelecocera scaevoides ( Fallén, 1817) and “ P. ruficornis Hofg. ”. Pelecocera ruficornis Hofg [= J.C. Hoffmansegg] was never described and Rondani did not supply any character to distinguish it from Pelecocera scaevoides , thus it is unavailable. Bezzi & Stein (1907: 83) considered Pelecocera ruficornis Rondani, 1865 as a junior synonym of Pelecocera tricincta Meigen, 1822 . Neither Peck (1988) nor O’Hara et al. (2011) listed this name.
