ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 194 (key), 196 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in planitie agri parmensis [ Parmese plains ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold, missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 13): Tachina Mgn / chrysalidarum Rnd. / 677; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUB: Box 326): 23 16 / Tachina crysalidarum Rond. , ex a. parmensi / crysalidarum Rndn. , Parma.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Exorista (Exorista) larvarum (Linnaeus, 1758) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 122) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 196) described Tachina chrysalidarum from more than one female, without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Raro foeminas legi … Mas ignotus [Rarely I collected females … Male unknown]”. Herting (1969: 192) reported just one female in the MZUF. We located two syntype females .
