ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 166 (key), 169 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold, missing left fore-, mid- and both hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 11): Ptilops Rnd. / puella Rnd. , ♀ / 548.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Chetoptilia puella ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 394, Pape et al. 1995: 30, Cerretti 2010: 485, O’Hara et al. 2020: 91).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 169) described Ptilops puella from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Foeminam tantum legi [I collected the female only]”. We found one syntype in this study.
