ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 77.

TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but later (1861e: 104) added “ in collibus et planitie agri parmensis [ Parmese hills and plains ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing fore- and right hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 16): Istoglossa Rndn. / puella Rndn. / 845.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Clausicella puella ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 345, Pape et al. 1995: 27, Cerretti 2010: 401, O’Hara et al. 2020: 683).

REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 77) key for the genus Istoglossa Rondani, 1856 lists Istoglossa puella as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. In his redescription, Rondani (1861e: 104) specified having had more than one female: “ Foeminas tantum inveni … mas ignotus [I found only some females … the male is unknown]”. We found just one female syntype in this study.
