Micropalpus pudicus Rondani, 1859 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 65 (key), 69 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (missing left fore- and right mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 10): Micropalpus Mcq. / pudicus Rnd. , ♂, impudici? / 510 .
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Linnaemya tessellans ( Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 286, O’Hara et al. 2009: 146).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 69) described Micropalpus pudicus from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Semel marem speciei accepi a Clar. Genéo [I once received the male of the species from Mr. Genè]”. Herting (1975: 12) reported the holotype in the MZUF. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Micropalpus ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Micropalpis Macquart, 1834 ” ( Evenhuis et al. 2016: 85).
