Genus Brachymyrmex Mayr View in CoL   HNS

The name B. depilis Emery   HNS is provisionally attached to the single species of Brachymyrmex   HNS that occurs in California. It is widespread but infrequently encountered, in part because of its small size and inconspicuous foraging behavior. This is a ground-nesting species, recorded in California from sea level to ~1900m. References: Creighton (1950a), Page (1982), Smith (1979), Wheeler and Wheeler (1986g), Yensen et al. (1980).
