Type: — CROATIA. Central Dalmatia: Dalmazia, isola di Svetac ( St. Andrea ), 26 July 2007, Bogdanović s.n. (holotype CAT!; isotypes CAT!, ZAGR!) ( Figs. 27 View FIGURE 27 , 56 View FIGURE 56 ) .
Diagnosis: — Planta dense pubescens , dense foliosa secus partem superiorem caudicularum, foliis rugosis, spathulatis, retusis, revolutis margine, 1-nervis, scapis numerosis, prostratis ad adscendentibus, rugosis, ramis sterilibus numerosis, inflorescentia reticulata, ramosa, spicis rectis ad curvis, bractea inferiore ovata, obtusa, bractea superiore oblonga, acuta, calice tubo piloso, lobis ovato-triangularibus, acutis.
Description: —Plant perennial, 10–30 cm tall, densely pubescent (hairs 0.05–0.15 mm long), with robust tap-root. Caudices branched, 3–8 cm long, densely covered by leaves in the upper part. Leaves rigid, rugose, pubescent, green, 11–35(–40) mm long, 3–10 mm wide, spathulate, revolute at the margin, 1-nerved, gradually tapering into a long petiole, retuse at the apex. Stems numerous, prostrate to ascending, rugose, with numerous sterile branches, flexuous, fragile at nodes, very branched, diverging at the angle of 60–180°, internodes 4–15 mm long, right to curved. Inflorescence reticulate, branched; spikes 7–25 mm long, straight to curved. Spikelets 5.5–6 mm long, 3–5-flowered, 4–6 per cm; outer bract 1.2–1.5 mm long, 1.2–1.5 mm wide, ovate, obtuse, with margin narrowly membranous, glabrous, and central part fleshy, acuminate, densely hairy; middle bract 1.4–1.5 mm long,

0.9–1.1 mm wide, ovate, bifid at the apex, membranous, hairy; inner bract 3.3–4.0 mm long, 1.6–2.4 mm wide, oblong, acute, with margin membranous, glabrous, 0.1–0.2 mm wide, and central part fleshy, densely hairy, 1.3–2 mm wide, acuminate, forming a triangular tip, 0.6–0.8 mm long, almost reaching the upper margin. Calyx 4.5–5 mm long, exserted 2–2.5 mm from the inner bract, tube hairy, with ribs densely hairy, reaching the middle part of the lobes; calyx lobes, triangular-ovate, glabrous, 0.6–0.7 × 0.7–0.8 mm, acute. Corolla lilac.
Etymology: —This species is dedicated to Zanki family, which are the owner of the Svetac island.
Distribution and ecology: —This species is exclusive of the Svetac island in the Vis archipelago (central Dalmatia) ( Fig. 29I View FIGURE 29 ). It is frequent in the calcareous slopes and the cliffs, mainly near the sea, where it grows in halophilous communities.
