Bas.: Limonium vestitum (C.E. Salmon 1923: 97) C.E.Salmon subsp. brusnicense Trinajstić (1980: 7) .

Type: — CROATIA. Central Dalmatia: Parva insula vulcanica Brusnik, prope insula Svetac in parte centrali maris Adriatici , 6 June 1964, Trinajstić 6737 (holotype ZA!) ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 , 31 View FIGURE 31 ) .

Description: —Plant perennial, 15–25 cm tall, densely pubescent (hairs up to 0.2 mm long), with robust tap-root. Caudices branched, 1–5 cm long, densely covered by leaves. Leaves rigid, rugose, pubescent, green, 13–40 mm long, 2.5–9 mm wide, spathulate, revolute at the margin, 1-nerved, gradually tapering into a long petiole, slightly retuse at the apex. Stems numerous, prostrate to ascending, rugose, with numerous sterile branches, flexuous, fragile at nodes, very branched, diverging at the angle of 90–150°, internodes 2–15 mm long, right to curved. Inflorescence reticulate, branched; spikes 5–30 mm long, straight to curved. Spikelets 5–6 mm long, 1(–2) flowered, 3–4 per cm; outer bract 1.8–2.3 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, ovate, obtuse, totally hairy, narrowly membranous, and central part fleshy, acuminate; middle bract 1.8–2.1 mm long, 1–1.3 mm wide, oblong, bifid at the apex, membranous, totally hairy; inner bract 3.9–4.2 mm long, 2.3–2.4 mm wide, oblong, apiculate, with margin membranous, glabrous, 0.2–0.3 mm wide, and central part fleshy, densely hairy, 1.6–1.8 mm wide, acuminate, forming a triangular tip, 0.6–0.8 mm long, almost reaching the upper margin. Calyx 5.2–5.4 mm long, exserted 2–2.2 mm from the inner bract, hairy, with ribs densely hairy, reaching the middle part of the lobes; calyx lobes, ovate, glabrous, 1 × 0.65–0.8 mm, acute. Corolla lilac.

Etymology: —The epithet is named after Brusnik islet.

Distribution and ecology: —It is very common in the volcanic islet of Brusnik ( Fig. 29H View FIGURE 29 ) from Vis archipelago (Central Dalmatia), where it occur in the rocky clefts.
