Phytotaxa 215 (1) © 2015 Magnolia Press • 11 Diagnosis: — Planta pubescens , dense foliosa apice caudicularum, foliis linearia-spathulatis, retusis apice, revolutis margine, 1-nerviis, scapis prostratis vel adscendentibus, flexuosis, ramis sterilibus paucis, inflorescentia pauciramosa, bractea inferiore ovata, obtusa, bractea superiore ovata, obtusa, calice tubo dense piloso, nerviis pilosis, lobis triangularibus, acutis.
Description: —Plant perennial, 10–30 cm tall, hairy (hairs up to 0.1–0.15 mm long), with robust tap-root. Caudices branched, 1–5(–7) cm long, densely covered by leaves in the upper part. Leaves rigid, rugose, hairy, green, 7–30 mm long, 3–5 mm wide, linear-spathulate, retuse at the apex, revolute at the margin, 1-nerved, gradually tapering into a long petiole. Stems numerous, prostrate to ascending, rugose, with few sterile branches, flexuous, fragile at nodes, very branched, diverging at the angle of 70–140(–180)°, internodes 5–13 mm long, right to curved. Inflorescence reticulate, branched from the base; spikes 5–25 mm long, straight to curved. Spikelets 4.5–4.8 mm long, 2–3 flowered, 5–6 per cm; outer bract 1.1–1.3 mm long, 1.4–1.5 mm wide, widely ovate, obtuse, hairy, margin narrowly membranous, and central part fleshy, acuminate; middle bract 1.3–1.4 mm long, 1.2–1.5 mm wide, ovate, obtuse, membranous, hairy on the veins and between them; inner bract 2.7–3 mm long, 2.2–2.4 mm wide, ovate, obtuse, with margin membranous, glabrous, 0.3–0.4 mm wide, and central part fleshy, densely hairy, 1.4–1.8 mm wide, acuminate, forming a triangular tip, 0.4–0.5 mm long, no reaching the upper margin. Calyx 4–4.5 mm long, exserted 1.4–1.8 mm from the inner bract, densely hairy in the tube and ribs; ribs reaching the middle part of the lobes; calyx lobes triangular, 0.7 × 0.5–0.6 mm, acute. Corolla lilac.
Etymology: —From “Busi” old name of Biševo island.
Distribution and ecology: —This species grows on the calcareous rocky coast and cliffs. It is circumscribed to Biševo ( Fig. 29G View FIGURE 29 ), small island of Vis archipelago (C. Dalmatia).
