Belippo elgonensis sp. nov.

Types. Holotype: male, Mount Elgon, Kaptega river, 1°12′N 34°54′E, 2010 m, litter in a gallery forest, 3 February 1979. Paratype: together with the holotype, 1 ♂ (+ 1 subadult ♂).

Diagnosis. The species may be distinguished from congeners by the shape of a tibial apophysis (with a barb and two diminutive teeth).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective derived from the type locality, Mount Elgon.

Description. Male. General appearance as in Figs 12, 13 . The carapace dark brown, eyes surrounded by black rings, cephalic part higher than thoracic part. Eye field slightly pitted. Short colourless hairs on carapace, a few longer bristles near eyes. Clypeus very low. Endites and sternum light brown, labium with darker base. Chelicerae large, as in Figs 14 , 16, 17 , with triangular lobe on retrolateral side. Four or five small teeth on promargin (the apical one separated from the others) and several, diminutive teeth on retromargin. Abdomen oval, without constriction, the two thirds of the posterior part covered with a brown scutum, in front of which there is a pair of oblique lateral white spots. Short colourless hairs on abdomen. Venter grayish brown. Spinnerets light brown. Legs thin, light brown, first pair with darker tibiae and metatarsi. Pedipalps dark. Palpal organ as in Figs 18–20 , three scale-like denticles on tip of tibia retrolaterally, tibial apophysis hidden in cymbial groove; barb and two very small denticles on this apophysis ( Figs 15 , 21 ). Dimensions. Cephalothorax: length 2.6, width 1.5, height 0.9. Abdomen: length 2.7, width 1.4. Eye field: length 1.3, anterior width 1.4, posterior width 1.5.

Female: unknown.
