Graphis nigrocarpa Adawadkar & Makhija (2006: 56) .

Type:— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Munnar to Kodai , 24 January 1976, M. B. Nagarkar & K. D. Gole 76.623 ( AMH, holotype, photograph seen) .

Thallus corticolous, off-white to brownish gray, continuous, smooth, dull. Lirellae erumpent with a thick lateral thalline margin, short to elongate, up to 10 mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, simple or irregularly branched, labia convergent, entire, not pruinose, disc concealed, (subserpentina- morph). Exciple completely carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 4–6/ascus, hyaline, transversely 9–11-septate, 40–50 × 10–11 μm; 8–14-septate, 33–63 × 4–6 μm (protologue).

Chemistry: norstictic acid (major), connorstictic acid (minor).

Distribution and habitat:—So far, Graphis nigrocarpa was only known from the type collection and first reported from Thailand by Pitakpong et al. (2015).

Remarks:—Very similar is Allographa rustica (see above), but this species produces stictic acid. Also very similar is A. marginata , but this species is easily separated in having much larger ascospores (11–25-septate, 60–120 × 9–18 μm).

Material from Thailand examined:— Chiang Mai province: Fang district, tambon Mae Nyon, campsite area of Doi Angkhan , on bark of a ± freestanding deciduous tree, 1565 m, 19°53’42’’ N, 99°02’44’’ E, 3 December 2016, J. & K. Kalb s.n. (hb. K. & J. Kalb 41988)— Mukdahan province: Phu Pha Terb National Park , on bark of an unidentified tree in a dry dipterocarp forest, SUT-501 (not seen) .
