Vidal (1968) described Rhaphiolepis brevipetiolata and cited the collection E. Poilane 3464 deposited in herbarium P as type in the protologue, however, we found two duplicates in the herbarium P. A lectotype is needed to be chosen from these two duplicates ( Turland et al. 2018: Art. 9.15). We herein designated the sheet (P03206033) that was annotated by Vidal as the lectotype. Furthermore, this species has never been well treated since its publication. Although we herein recognized this species, a further study will be needed to clarify the identity of R. brevipetiolata .
