Kolla ceylonica (Melichar) View in CoL
( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 a–i).
Kolla ceylonica (Melichar 1903:156, Tettigonia ).
Hussainiana tripunctata Mahmood & Ahmed 1969: 88 View in CoL –90, figs 3a–g. Syn. nov.
Material examined. Holotype 3 H. tripunctata , Bangladesh: Rangpur, 9.xii.1963, I.A. Khan ( ZMUK); Bangladesh: 23, Dacca, 1963 ( BMNH). Several specimens throughout Oriental region ( BMNH).
Remarks. As the male genitalia of K. ceylonica appears not to have been previously figured we make the above synonymy based on a comparison of the type of tripunctata with material of ceylonica , from throughout its range, in the BMNH (see above). We also figure the species from the type of tripunctata but as only the dissected genitalia (in vial) remain of the type, external features are redrawn from the original. Young (1986: 135) recorded ceylonica from E. Pakistan ( Bangladesh).
K. ceylonica is similar to K. iocasta (Distant) from India but in the unique female type of iocasta (BMNH) the hind margin of the pregenital sternite is evenly curved rather than medially sinuate as in ceylonica .
Distribution. Widespread in the Oriental region.
Note Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 a: With the exception of the medial brown spot other thoracic colour pattern, in the original reproduced here, is underlying and variably distinct in specimens seen.
