General distribution. Palearctic though not in Scandinavia, Korea, or Japan.
Host plants. On cabbage ( Farahbakhsh 1961; Modarres Awal 1997b; Askari et al. 2009; Hassanzadeh et al. 2009a), turnip, colza, mustard, raddish, other cultivated and wild crucifers ( Farahbakhsh 1961; Modarres Awal 1997b), Populus sp. ( Salicaceae ), Tamarix sp. ( Tamaricaceae ) ( Wagner 1968), Brassicaceae (Iranipour 1996; Heiss 2002), Chenopodium sp. ( Chenopodiaceae ), Ulmus sp. ( Ulmaceae ) ( Modarres Awal 1996a), Brassica campestris , Sinapis arvensis ( Brassicaceae ), Verbena officinalis ( Verbenaceae ) (Sakenin et al. 2008), lucerne, potato ( Sadeghi et al. 2009), Alyssum murale ( Brassicaceae ) ( Nateq Golestan et al. 2010a, 2011), rape ( Khaghaninia et al. 2010b, 2011), Alhagi sp. ( Fabaceae ), Verbascum sp. ( Chenopodiaceae ), Sinapis sp. ( Brassicaceae ) ( Nateq Golestan et al. 2011), Veronica sp. E. ornata has been mentioned on several plants as Brassicaceae (mainly), Cistaceae , Poaceae and Solanaceae ( Derjanschi & Péricart 2005) .
Comments. Eurydema ornata is a very variable species for which numerous varieties (with no taxonomic value) have been described: conjunta Kolenati 1846, falleni Gorski 1852, christophi Jakovlev 1874 , cruentata Puton 1881, mehadiense Horváth 1882, simplex Rey 1887, ventrale Rey 1887, simplicissima Rey 1888, completa Rey 1888, putonia d’Antessanty 1891, chloroticum Horváth 1891, pictella Kirkaldy 1909, gorskiana Kirkaldy 1909, bipunctata Stichel 1936, rubra Stichel 1936, nigrescens Kupka 1944, atriventris Filippi 1949, ornatula Tamanini 1961 .
