( Figures 2 View FIGURE 2 C, 3A, 7A–C, 10G–H, 11J, 12F–G)
Type material. Holotype: male, Yiwanshui, Longling, Yunnan, 1720 m, 16 Apr. 2002, coll. Chuan-Hui Yi.
Description. Male. Body large for the genus. Fastigium verticis narrower than scapus of antennae, moderately sloping anteriorly, dorsally furrowed, sinuate upper edge in lateral view, separated from fastigium frontis. Pronotum with anterior margin approximately straight, posterior margin broadly rounded, three transverse sulci distinct and medial carina interrupted by second sulcus, which Y-shaped; paranota slightly longer than deep, anterior margin slightly concave, ventral and posterior margins moderately rounded, humeral sinus distinct. Procoxae unarmed, all femora with dorsum smoothly and longitudinal groove on venter; profemur with 2 minute spines on ventro-internal margin, mesofemur without spines on ventral margins, postfemur with 2 spines on ventroexternal margin only, all genicular lobes without spines; protibiae with internal tympanum covered by a conchate fold, external tympanum free, widened at and abruptly constricted below tympana. Tegmen faintly widened behind middle, apex broadly rounded, extending beyond apex of postfemur, Rs branching before the middle of radius, two branches; hind wings longer than tegmina.
Stridulatory area of left tegmen rather large, long oval, 4.3 mm long, 2.69 mm wide ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 G); stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen long, concave and nearly straight, 2.07 mm long; teeth slightly dense in basal quarter; with about 189 teeth ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 A, 11J); mirror long oval, 4.79 mm long, 2.64 mm wide ( Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 H). Tenth abdominal tergite with posterior margin concave; cerci surpassing apex of subgenital plate; baso-interal side expanded; strongly curved inwards in about middle, then recurved outside and curled upwards; apical part distinct narrower ( Figs. 7 View FIGURE 7 C, 12G); epiproct narrow, tongue-shaped; phallus with a pair of lateral sclerites, which slight wide in basal part, posteriorly tapering, curved dorsally in apical third. Subgenital plate not rather longer, curved dorsally in middle ( Figs. 7 View FIGURE 7 A, 12F); lateral carinae distinct on ventral surface; basal part broad and medial area narrow, apical part slightly widened and posterior margin excised widely, bottom of excision nearly straight, apico-lateral projections narrow, directing laterally ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 B).
Color. Specimen preserved in alcohol, body slightly faded. Pronotum with a pair of large brown dots on disc between first and second sulci, sparse brown dots on remains of the areas; tegmen with some large black dots surrounded by clouds of small black dots in centre of cells in lateral field; a rather large brown spot occupies stridulatory area of left tegmen; hind wing transparent, exposed area yellowish green with brown dots; numerous red dots on abdominal tergites; several red dots on lateral sides of femora, sparse brown dots on lateral sides of tibiae, tibial tympana with brown conchate fold and lateral black stripes on basal dorsum.
Female. Unknown.
Measurements (mm). Male. Body: 13.0; body with wings: 35.5; pronotum: 5.0; tegmen length: 28.0; tegmen width: 7.3; hind wing: 33.0; profemur: 5.0; mesofemur: 6.0; postfemur: 12.0.
Etymology. The species is named for tegmina with numerous spots in lateral field.
Remarks. The new species resembles M. liui Bey-Bienko, 1957 and M. obscuripennis Liu, 2004 , but it differs from them in: male subgenital plate with posterior margin excised widely, bottom of the excision nearly straight, cerci with spices blunt.
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
