Periclimenella pettithouarsii ( Audouin, 1826)
Palaemon Pettithouarsii Audouin, 1826: 91 View in CoL .
Periclimenes Petitthouarsii. View in CoL — Nobili 1906b: 49.
Periclimenella pettithouarsii . — Ďuriš & Bruce 1995: 645, figs. 13–18.
Material examined. 1 specimen (not sexed, damaged), KISR, Umm Al-Maradim, leg. M. Al-Kandari et al., 11.xi.2014 .
General distribution. Indian Ocean, known from the Red Sea, Arabian Gulf ( UAE, Kuwait), and from scattered locations throughout the Indian Ocean ( Ďuriš & Bruce 1995, present study).
Ecology. Lower intertidal to around 30 m; facultative associate of a range of scleractinian corals.
Remarks. Within the Arabian Gulf, P. pettithouarsii was previously reported from the UAE by Nobili (1906b). Although the single Kuwaiti specimen lacks both second pereiopods, it can be confidently assigned to this species on the basis of the first chela and the absence of a supraorbital tooth.
