Because Hydropsychodes is now in synonymy with Cheumatopsyche , Hydropsychodes bimaculata Jacquemart, 1966 is a junior homonym of Cheumatopsyche bimaculata (Ulmer, 1930) , and should be renamed, as suggested by Scott (1983). Cheumatopsyche congolana is here proposed as a new replacement name for H. bimaculata Jacquemart, 1966 . Although C. bimaculata was described from the female only, its special forewing venation, including a sessile fork I, differentiates it from C. congolana Oláh & Johanson. Most importantly however is the completely different pattern of the forewings. The male genitalia of C. congolana were not illustrated, but the general similarity between genitalia of C. congolana and C. afra (Mosely) was stated by Jacquemart (1966). However, examination of the genitalia of the holotype ( MRAC) mounted in permanent microscope slide and although very distorted, flattened and deformed, revealed that C. congolana has rather short apicoventral setal lobes on segment X ( Fig. 121) and belongs to the C. lestoni species group and not the C. dubitans species group. Cheumatopsyche afra belongs to the C. dubitans species group due to the presence of longer apicoventral lobes. Cheumatopsyche congolana is morphologically close to C. tenerima Marlier, 1961 .
