This bumblebee has a Pyrenean distribution between 1175 and 2250 m altitude, preferably on grassland areas of fir, beech and oak ( Ornosa & Ortiz-Sanchez 2004).

At present it has been collected in forest and supraforestal pastures, especially in grasslands of open forests with Pinus uncinata , Abies alba . and scattered patches of subalpine scrub with blueberry, creeping juniper, rhododendron and heather, between 1000 and 2125 m ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ), on Acinos alpinus (L.) Moench, Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., Cirsium acaule (L.) Scop., Eryngium bourgatii Gouan. , Gentiana lutea L., Lonicera pyrenaica L., Lotus corniculatus L., Medicago sativa L. , Rhododendron ferrugineum L., Silene acaulis (L.) Jacq., Taraxacum officinale Wigg. , Trifolium alpinum L., Trifolium pratense L. , Trifolium repens L. Vicia cracca L. and Vicia sativa L.

This species has been recorded below its usual altitude range ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ), and it is not regarded as being scarce or threatened ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ).
