Cryptic and Palearctic species ( Williams et al. 2012) that spread from Asia over all Europe to Spain. Rasmont et al. (2015) considered B. magnus as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List of European Bees.
In Spain it was located from 100 to 2000 m in the Cantabrian Range, the Pyrenees, Sierra de Guadarrama and provinces of Guadalajara and Teruel ( Castro 1994). Rasmont (1988) and Rasmont et al. (2006) pointed out the preference of B. magnus for Ericaceae , however, in the Iberian Peninsula there are quite a few records on Asteraceae , Boraginaceae , Fabaceae , Rosaceae and Scrophulariaceae ( Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez 2004) .
It has not been recorded in the present study ( Table 3), but its difficult taxonomic identification makes many of its old records uncertain and in need of verification.

TABLE 3. Bumblebee species and subspecies in the Pyrenees from historical data with no records in the contemporary sampling and the corresponding IUCN Red Lists category (from Spain: Verdú & Galante (2006), Verdú et al. (2011) and from Europe: Rasmont et al. (2015): Not Evaluated, NE; Endangered, EN; Vulnerable, VU; Data Deficient, DD; Least Concern, LC). The number of individuals collected in historical samplings in the Pyrenees and information about the last record in the Iberian Peninsula are included.
