Genus Cenopalpus Pritchard and Baker, 1958
Type species: Brevipalpus spinosus ( Donnadieu, 1875) , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Based on Pritchard and Baker (1958) and Mesa et al. (2009). Idiosoma broadly oval or slightly tapering posteriorly; rostral shield present; palp with 4 segments (rarely 3 segments), dorsal setae setiform or narrowly to broadly lanceolate, nude or sparsely serrate; length of dorsal setae vary but h2 never very long, idiosoma with regular or irregular reticulation; opisthosoma with 11 pairs of setae (c2 present, d2, e2 absent). Solenidia on tarsi I and II usually slender and tapering. Genital and ventral shields distinct and separated, former elliptical, wider than long, and latter rectangular, usually with striate cuticle forming frame around plate. Tarsal claws uncinate.
Remarks. Most Cenopalpus have a rostral shield that comprises a large, deeply-notched medial lobe and much smaller lateral lobes. The medial lobes are usually broad, and can also bear lateral processes, here called submedial lobes.
