Examined material. IRAN, East Azerbaijan province: 10 ♂ 6 ♀, Kaleybar, Vaighan , 38°51′N 47°02′E, 1000 m, 23.v.2004, leg. E. Gilasian ; Golestan province: 1 ♀, Golestan National Park, Tang-e Gol , 37°23′N 55°48′E, 700 m, 9.v.1999, leg. M. Moghaddam / Sh. Manzari / H. Barari ; Hamedan province: 1 ♀, Hamedan, Moradbeyk , 34°48′N 48°30′E, 2380 m, 22.v.2004, leg. E. Gilasian.

Remarks. Cheilosia vicina can be distinguished from other similar Cheilosia species by the following combination of characters: eye bare, eye margin narrow; female frons pollinose, narrower than an eye in dorsal view; face bare, less projected and broadened (in male) ventrally; flagellum black; arista pubescent; scutum entirely shiny black in male, generally covered with black pile and in female with short appressed pile; in female, scutellum with two pairs of long black setae on posterior margin; legs entirely black; male genitalia as in Barkalov & Ståhls (1997: figure 37A–C).

Cheilosia vicina is widely distributed in Europe, but it is not recorded from other parts of the Palaearctic region. The specimens of the present study represent the first record of C. vicina from the Middle East (Speight 2016).
