Diagnosis: The group can be defined by the following characters: body broadly elongate, head trapezoid; antennae with antennomeres 6–10 distinctly transverse; abdominal tergite III with two basal lines, apical portion of male sternite IX with finer and short setae; apical portion of median lobe hatchet-like in lateral view, paramere without peg-setae.
Distribution and diversity: The group is hitherto known only from the islands of China: Hainan and Taiwan, and includes two species: H. babai Shibata, 1990 and H. pengi sp. n..
