Previously recorded from Costa Rica (Puntarenas Province) to Ecuador ( Drake & Harris 1937, 1941; Polhemus 1991; Polhemus & Manzano 1992; Polhemus & Polhemus 2002; Molano et al. 2008; Posso & González 2008; Morales & Castro 2010; Padilla-Gil & Arcos 2011; Padilla-Gil & Pacheco-Chaves 2012; Padilla-Gil 2012, 2013a; Padilla-Gil & García-López 2013). In Costa Rica, this species was found in estuaries along the South Pacific coast.
Material examined. Puntarenas— Puerto Jiménez, Blanca Beach, La Palma, Troya Estury, 0 m a.s.l., I.2009, (A. Castillo): 1 male, 7 females, 4 nymphs ( MZUCR). Térraba-Sierpe, Taual Estuay, X 583,557, Y 107,761, 0 m a.s.l., III.2010, (B. Pacheco): 1 male, 3 nymphs ( MZUCR).
