Perithemis domitia (Drury, 1773)

Adults are small, agile, fast, and bright orange-red. We regularly found P. domita on St . Thomas cruising shaded, calm pools on ghuts and ponds. Only once was it associated with an ornamental pond, and that was on Water Island . At all locations, there was ample tree cover, and a partially closed canopy. Donnelly (2002) gives a similar habitat description and reports it from Turpentine Run ghut on St . Thomas and from L’Esperance spring on St. John. We found nymphs in aquatic plants at 14 different sites.
