Type material. CHINA, Hunan Province: Holotype female from Huaihua City, Mayang County, Pan Tian Village , 27.63°N, 109.64°E, 558 m, 24April2016, H.Zhang, Y. Zhong & Y. Zhu leg. ( CBEE, LJ2136 ) GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1 female, with same data as for holotype ( CBEE, LJ2137 ) GoogleMaps .
Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality, the Pan Tian Village; adjective.
Diagnosis. The female of P. pantianensis Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. digitata by the narrow LL and its anterior margins only very slightly curved. It can be recognised by the tips of S becoming narrower apically (turning broader in P. digitata ).
FEMALE (LJ2136): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 10.5–11.7, DS length 4.6, width 4.1, OS length 5.9, width 4.1. Eyes: AME 0.18, ALE 0.27, PME 0.23, PLE 0.25,AME–AME 0.13,AME–ALE 0.07, PME– PME 0.15, PME–PLE 0.25, AME–PME 0.21, ALE–PLE 0.17, CH AME 0.28, CH ALE 0.22. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I–III 323, IV 331; Pa I–IV 100; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 2026, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 5.4 (1.6, 0.8, 1.2, –, 1.8); I 14.5 (4.4, 1.7, 4.1, 3.2, 1.1); II 18.0 (4.8, 1.9, 5.2, 4.5, 1.6); III 12.6 (4.2, 1.3, 3.5, 2.9, 0.7); IV 15.4 (4.7, 1.0, 4.0, 4.3, 1.4). Leg formula: II-IV-I-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 22 denticles.
Epigyne ( Figs 193A–C View FIGURE 193 ): As in diagnosis. EF almost twice as wide as long, and its anterior part wider than posterior part. AB long, partly fragmented, indistinct. FW well developed, forming inverted trapezoid.
Colouration ( Figs 194A–B View FIGURE 194 ): DS yellow with dark spots and setae, and light horseshoe-shaped band, most distinct in posterior part, margin with irregular black patterns. Fovea and striae distinctly marked, with one pair of small, fused patches in front of fovea, these connected to lines running anteriorly. OS dorsally yellow with a reddish-brown region in longitudinal axis at anterior part and a yellow transverse band at posterior part. OS ventrally with lots of reddish-brown marks, its posterior part with a reddish-brown patch.
MALE: Unknown.
