Unterscheidet sich von Galium (S. 286) durch folgende Merkmale: Krone meist mit 5 Zipfeln; Frucht fleischig.

Die Gattung Rubia umfaßt etwa 40 Arten, die vorwiegend in subtropischen Gebieten der alten Welt und im Mittelmeergebiet Vorkommen.
