Diagnosis. For a recent diagnosis of A. flavimana , see Framenau and Baehr (2018). It is most similar to A. avona Framenau, 2002 , which does not occur in Western Australia. In Western Australia, similar species include A. aculeata sp. nov. and A. impedita due to the gaping tegular apophysis in males ( Fig. 13C ) and the presence of a scape like process in females ( Fig. 14C ). However, males are unique within the known species of the genus as the first pair of legs is the longest, not the fourth as in all other species. Males of A. flavimana also differ from those of A. aculeata and A. impedita by their tegular apophyses not having a single large spine at its retrolateral portion. The female scape-like process is situated posteriorly in the epigyne atrium, not centrally as in A. aculeata sp. nov. and A. impedita .

Life history and habitat preferences. Mature males and females were found throughout the year except January; males with largest numbers between July and August and females between July and November. This points to the peak of the mating period of winter to early spring. Artoria flavimana is a forest species, with habitat descriptions such as ‘Karri and Jarrah forest’ (in Western Australia), or ‘dry sclerophyll forest’, ‘Grey Box woodland’ and ‘ Melaleuca preissiana ’.

Distribution. The distribution includes south-western Western Australia, southern South Australia, southern and western Victoria, south-eastern New South Wales, and throughout Tasmania ( Fig. 10 ).
