Vernacular Names: Rough-toothed Dolphin.

Synonyms: Steno compressus ( Gray 1843) ; Steno frontatus (Cuvier 1823) ; Steno perspicillatus Peters 1876 ; Steno rostratus (Desmarest 1817) .

Distribution: Worldwide: warm-temperate to tropical waters.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Data Deficient.

Discussion: Stenopontistes zambezicus is not a synonym, see comment under Sousa chinensis . See Schevill (1987 a) for further taxonomic notes.
