Type:— BRAZIL. São Paulo: [São Paulo], Butantan, Pirajussara River, 1 March 1921, A. Gerht s.n. (lectotype, designated by Barros (2004: 14): SP 5348!).

Notes: — Schlechter & Hoehne (1926) described N. longispicata based on two samples that were deposited in the B and SP herbaria. The type specimen was deposited at B where it was destroyed during bombing in World War II (Butzin 1978, 1980). The isotype deposited in the SP herbarium was designated as a lectotype by Barros (2004).
