Listroptera AudinetServille View in CoL

Listroptera AudinetServille, 1834:71 View in CoL ; Monne´, 1993:78; Monné and Giesbert, 1995: 126; Mermudes, 1999:15–49. Type species: Callidium tenebrosum Fabricius, 1792 View in CoL (5 Cerambyx tenebricosus Olivier, 1790 View in CoL ), by monotypy.

Description. Head moderately long. Frons oblique, impressed on each side near clypeus. Clypeus half as long as frons; clypeal suture somewhat angulate. Antennal tubercles feebly prominent, rounded. Eyes very finely faceted, emarginate; lower lobes large, prominent, somewhat projected onto frons; upper lobes about ⅓ as wide as lower lobes. Mandibles somewhat enlarged, curved at apex, acute, fringed along inner border. Apical segments of palps cylindrical, attenuate at base and apex. Antennae filiform, 11segmented. Scape cylindrical, about ¼ longer than segment 3, longitudinally grooved; segment 3 slightly longer than 4; segments 5 to 11 longer than 3; segment 11 as long as 10. Segments 3–10 slightly depressed, 3–5 enlarged at apex. Prothorax about as wide as long, attenuate to apex and base, moderately tuberculate on each side at middle. Pronotum uneven, with four prominent gibbosities, two antemedian and two lateral, near base, transversely impressed at apical third and behind middle; superface opaque, blackish micropubescent. Prosternum with intercoxal process narrowed between procoxae, gradually expanded to apex. Anterior coxal cavities slightly angulate at sides, narrowly open behind. Mesosternum with intercoxal process somewhat prominent, 1.5 times as wide as mesocoxa, parallelsided, truncate at apex. Intermediate coxal cavities closed to epimera. Metepisterna narrow, subparallelsided. Elytra flattened, somewhat widened behind middle, impressed at base near scutellum; distal ⅔ densely clothed with whitish pubescence, leaving on each elytron a dark vitta; the pubescence obliquely disposed anteriorly, forming an angle towards scutellum. Each elytron with two costae; one strong, extending from humerus to apex above vertical epipleuron, nother weakly prominent, sinuous, extending from inside humerus to apical third. Costae and suture with moderately long, erect, brownish setae. Epipleuron vertical, longitudinally impressed and strongly costate, the costa asperate punctate, each puncture bearing a short, stiff seta. Hind legs almost twice as long as forelegs. Femora gradually clavate, carinate on both sides of peduncles, micropubescent, sparsely setose, with scattered asperate punctures; meso and metafemora acutely bidentate at apices. Metafemora exceeding elytral apices. Tibiae feebly asperate punctate, sparsely setose. Tibial spurs short, the inner longer. First segment of metatarsi as long as the following two combined. Abdomen somewhat oval. First urosternite longer than the following two combined, intercoxal process broadly rounded at apex.

Remarks. Listroptera , Haenkea Tippmann (1953) , Dihammaphora Chevrolat (1853) , and Aguassay form a homogeneous group within the Neotropical Cleomenini , sharing several characters such as the flattened, coarsely punctate and laterally carinate elytra, the vertical, strongly costate and asperate epipleura, the clavate femora which are carinate on both sides of the peduncles, the oval abdomen with the first urosternite longer than the following two combined and broadly projecting between the metacoxae, the prominent intercoxal process of the mesosternum which is wider than the mesocoxa, and the apical segment of palpi attenuate at base and apex and shorter than the preceding two combined. The four genera may be identified through the following key:

1. Antennae in both sexes at most extending beyond middle of elytra; segments short, expanded apically. Femora abruptly clavate. Anterior coxal cavities closed behind ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 Antennae exceeding apices of elytra in males, at least as long as body in females; segments cylindricalelongate. Femora gradually clavate. Anterior coxal cavities open behind ---------------------------------------------------------------- 3

2(1). Sixth antennal segment pyramidal, strongly expanded at apex; segments 3–5 and 6–10 short, similar in size, expanded apically. Prosternum of males with a single, coarse and deep puncture on each side at apical third. Elytra strongly asperate at sides ----------------------- Haenkea Tippmann Sixth antennal segment at most impressed, moderately expanded at apex; segments 3–5 cylindrical, longer than 6–10 which are shortened, swollen. Sexual punctation, of male, if present, formed by a patch on each side of prosternum. Elytra weakly asperate at sides or not ----------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dihammaphora Chevrolat

3(1). Prothorax about as wide as long, subtuberculate at sides, widest at middle. Antennae with segment 4 barely shorter than 3. Elytra conspicuously wider than prothorax at base, with a median dorsal costa. Anterior coxal cavities angulate at sides. Meso and metafemora acutely bidentate at apex. ( Figs. 1–2 View Figs ) ------------------------------------------- Listroptera AudinetServille Prothorax longer than wide, attenuate from base to apex, widest behind middle. Antennae with segment 4 about half as long as 3. Elytra slightly wider than prothorax at base, without dorsal costa. Anterior coxal cavities rounded at sides. Meso and metafemora rounded at apex. ( Fig. 3 View Figs ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aguassay , new genus
