COMMON NAME (S): Marbled Emperor.
SYNONYM(S): None.
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia , South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Chongwe and Kafue, in Lusaka Province ; Mumbwa, in Central Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants of the taxon include: one Fabaceae subspecies ( Acacia polyacantha subsp. campylacantha (A.Rich.) Brenan ) in the Democratic Republic of Congo ( Thiry 1980); one Fabaceae species ( Acacia erubescens Oliv. ) in Namibia ( Oberprieler 1995) and four species and one subspecies of Fabaceae ( Acacia pubescens (Vent.) R.Br. A. nigrescens Oliv. , Acacia burkei Benth. , Acacia sp. and A. polyacantha subsp. campylacantha (A.Rich.) Brenan ) in South Africa ( van den Berg 1974; Oberprieler 1995). Three additional Fabaceae species namely, Acacia fleckii Schinz , A. polyacantha Willd. and A. mellifera (M.Vahl) Benth. are named as larval foodplants of the taxon ( African Moths 2019). No host plants of the taxon have been reported in Zambia.
