COMMON NAME (S): Black-ringed Emperor. Edible caterpillar (“Kisukubia” or “Finamusuku” in “Bemba language in Zambia). SYNONYM(S): Nudaurelia rubra Bouvier, 1927d .
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia. LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘ Lusaka,’ in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): In Kenya host plants of this taxon include one Cyperaceae species ( Juniperus procera Hochst. ex Endl. ), one Fabaceae species ( Acacia mearnsii De Wild. ), two Pinaceae species ( Pinus patula Schiede ex Schltdl.
& Cham. and P. radiata D.Don ), one Rosaceae species ( Prunus africana (Hook.f.) Kalkman ) and one
Cornaceae species ( Cornus volkensii Harms ). No host pants of the taxon have been reported in Zambia or elsewhere in Africa .
