Lucanidae View in CoL

Lucanus placidus Say. Gardner (1986) View in CoL reported a specimen from Missouri: Wright Co.: Bill Dyer Lead Mine Cave, “… collected from the leaves below the shallow pit entrance.” Lucanus placidus View in CoL is widespread in the central US and, like most lucanids, their larvae feed on various decaying plant materials (Ratcliffe and Paulsen 2008). This is considered an accidental collection.
