Botanophila Lioy, 1864 View in CoL View at ENA
Diagnosis. Male eyes usually holoptic; interfrontal seta present; proclinate orbital seta usually absent; arista pubescent; mid tibia with 1–3 pd seta; prealar seta well developed; scutellum with two long marginal pairs of setae and a shorter discal pair, and with fine pubescence hairs on ventral surface; proepisternum, meron and anepimeron bare; pregonite small, and with two robust setulae; distiphallus reduced (adapted from Suh & Kwon 2008).
An unusual character of the species herein described is the male dichoptic eyes, identical to female ( Figs 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2A View FIGURE 2 , 3A View FIGURE 3 ), whereas the male terminalia is Botanophila - type, with pregonite and distiphallus reduced, and the cerci (fused into a cercal plate) long and apically furcated ( Figs 4B View FIGURE 4 , 5B View FIGURE 5 , 6B View FIGURE 6 ).
