Figures 1 View FIGURE 1 T, 2T
Pyralis strigana Fabricius, 1775: 654 ; 1781: 287; 1787: 238; 1794: 282.
Type locality. Sweden (“Habitat in Sueciae nemoribus”).
Material examined. Kiel coll. 6 syntypes representing 4 species: 2 Lathronympha strigana (Fabricius) (one of them lectotype here designated), 2 Cydia nigricana (Fabricius) , 1 Ancylis unguicella (Linnaeus) and 1 Dichrorampha sp.
Identity. Lathronympha strigana (Fabricius) ( Olethreutinae , Grapholitini ) ( Obraztsov 1960).
Remarks. Fabricius (1787) refers to “ Phalaena politana Wien. Verz. 129.16”, a junior synonym of this species. The species was long known as a junior synonym of L. hypericana (Hübner, 1799) ( Meyrick 1926) . In order to stabilize nomenclature, the specimen figured in Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 T is here designated as the lectotype. It is a male and the only specimen in the series with a label “ strigana ” in Fabricius’ handwriting ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 T), and “ oculana ” on the reverse side. The head is missing.
