Metriogryllacris Karny, 1937 View in CoL
Type species: Gryllacris permodesta Griffini, 1914b
Diagnosis. Metriogryllacris sensu stricto. Rather small and short species with wings covering about abdomen or in some species strongly shortened (micropterous to squamipterous). Male ninth abdominal tergite provided at apical margin with a pair of small, approximate or narrowly spaced hooks, with apices pointing downwards or slightly aside. Female ovipositor short and straight, much shorter than hind femur, with tip obtuse or very faintly upcurved at very tip.
Discussion. The genus has been extensively treated by Gorochov (2004). He described several new species from Vietnam differing in details of the male and female abdominal appendages. Additional contributions concern the fauna of China ( Di, Bian & Shi 2014), Korea ( Kim & Hong 2014, Storozhenko et al. 2015) and Japan ( Gorochov 2002b, Ichikawa 2006).
