Type locality: 10 m diameter pond, southeast of Juan Griego , near this town and the road, Margarita Island, NUEVA ESPARTA State, Venezuela (GN 11º04’54” N, 63º57’56” W). Holotype (♀)—IPP, catalog number not known. GoogleMaps
In Venezuela: this corresponds to the type locality ( Margalef 1961) .
Remarks: this species has only been recorded in Venezuela. For this reason, it is considered endemic. Martens & Behen (1994) do not use the subgenus Guaiqueria Margalef 1961 , and transfer the nominal taxon to its current combination.
