Material examined. Ordubad, Aghdara , 39°06′N, 45°54′E, 2000 m, 17. VI GoogleMaps .2019, 1 ♀ [ FSCV] .

Distribution. Western, Southern, and Eastern Europe, North Africa, Russia (European part, Urals, Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia), Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Mongolia.

Remarks. Two subspecies were hitherto recognized in this species: Antepipona orbitalis orbitalis (Herrich- Schäffer, 1839) (= Odynerus parvulus var. alpicola Berland, 1928 ) and A. orbitalis ballioni ( Morawitz, 1867) (= O. rubripes André, 1884 ) ( van der Vecht & Fischer 1972; Gusenleitner 2013). We consider them synonymous since the differences are based on the coloration only (yellow pattern on both the body and the legs in the nominotypical subspecies versus whitish pattern on the body and reddish on the legs in the subspecies A. orbitalis ballioni ) and both forms occur in sympatry with some intermediates. For example, A. orbitalis orbitalis was found in the south of European Russia (Fateryga 2017), from where O. ballioni was described. Therefore, A. orbitalis = A. orbitalis ballioni , syn. nov.
