Distribution. Western, Southern, and Eastern Europe, North Africa, Russia (European part), Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Iran, Turkmenistan.
Remarks. There are three synonyms and three subspecies of Syneuodynerus egregius ( Herrich-Schäffer, 1839) besides the nominotypical one ( van der Vecht & Fischer 1972; Gusenleitner 1997, 2013). They require a revision (most probably all subspecies are also synonymous with the nominotypical one); therefore, the complete synonymy is not listed here.
