Augochlora iphigenia Holmberg, 1886: 179 , lectotype, ♀ (MACN) from Argentina, Buenos Aires, La Tinta. Designation by Dalmazzo & Roig-Alsina (2011). Not examined.

Oxystoglossa semiramis Schrottky, 1910: 78 , holotype, ♀ (MZSP) from Brazil, São Paulo. Synonymy by Dalmazzo & Roig-Alsina (2011). Examined .

Halictus brochidens Vachal, 1911: 22 , lectotype, ♀ (MNHP) from Argentina, Buenos Aires. Designation by Sakagami & Moure (1965). Synonym by Dalmazzo & Roig-Alsina (2011). Examined through photographs.

Diagnosis. This species is unique among the southern South American species in having a well-developed tooth anteriorly on the hypostomal carina. From A. mendax sp. nov. it can be separated also by the lack of a tuberculate elevation on S1 of females and clypeus apex without yellowish band on males. This species presents a strong pattern of head polymorphism on females, firstly observed by Sakagami & Moure (1965).

Comments. For species description and comments on the lectotype of A. iphigenia see Dalmazzo & Roig-Alsina (2011). Nests were studied by Sakagami & Moure (1967). For comments on head polymorphism of females see Sakagami & Moure (1965).

Distribution. This is a commonly collected species in Southern South America, occurring in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and S„o Paulo. In Argentina the species occurs in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Chaco, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Misiones, Salta, San Luis, and Santa Fé. There are also records in Paraguay and Uruguay.
