( Figures 1F, L View FIGURE 1 ; 3A View FIGURE 3 ; 36 View FIGURE 36 A–D; 37A–D; 51J)

Odontochlora phoemonoe Schrottky, 1909: 142 , syntypes, ♀ (whereabouts unknown) from Argentina, Buenos Aires, Corrientes and Paraguay, Itapúa, Encarnación .

Odontochlora neivai Moure, 1940: 465 , holotype, ♀ (DZUP) from Brazil, Paraná, Curitiba. Examined. New synonym.

Diagnosis. Augochlora phoemonoe has the T1 apex inflexed ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 ) and a spiniform projection with rounded tip on S1 (as in Fig. 1L View FIGURE 1 ) of females. These are diagnosed by the mid trochanter ventral margin widely rounded and the pronotum dorsolateral angles not projected. The latter character differs both males and females from Augochlora micans (Moure, 1943) , a similar species found in S„o Paulo and northwards. Males are also characterized by the yellowish F1, T3 weakly punctate near base and strongly imbricate on disc, and T2 loosely imbricate near marginal area.

Comments. We examined the holotype of O. neivai and it corresponds to a typical A. phoemonoe female. Social behavior was studied by Dalmazzo & Roig-Alsina (2015; 2018b) over nests reared in laboratory. For species description and additional comments see Dalmazzo & Roig-Alsina (2011).

Distribution. This species is found in the Brazilian states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and S„o Paulo. In Argentina, the species is recorded in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Entre Rios, Formosa, La Pampa, Misiones, Salta, Santa Fé, and Tucumán. The species is also found in Paraguay and Uruguay.
