Material examined. Australia. Queensland. 3 females, Brisbane, University of Queensland campus, Saint Lucia , 27°30'S 153°01'E, 27 July 1997, leaf litter, D. E. Walter coll., UQIC Reg. # 83615, 83616; 1 female, Brisbane Forest Park, litter, F. Beaulieu, no other data (in UQIC) .

Notes. Evimirus uropodinus was described from under rotting wood in Italy ( Berlese 1903). Since then it has been reported from compost and soil in Europe ( Karg 1971, 1976, 1989, 1993), USA ( Shoemake 1970), former USSR ( Bregetova 1977), China ( Ma et al. 1999), Korea ( Kaczmarek & Lee 2000) and Iran ( Pakyari et al. 2006). It is now recorded from cultivated gardens in Brisbane. This species may be recognised by the very wide posterior section of the epigynal shield of the female, which is wider than the anal shield, and wider than the distance between the postero-median corners of the peritrematal shields. The Australian specimens agree with the Italian types in the Berlese Acaroteca (examined by Peter Mašán; as follows: 1 female, Cansiglio, ISZA slide 3/4; 1 female, Cison di Valmarino, ISZA slide 3/5; 1 female, Varese, ISZA slide 191/22).
