Type locality. Ulupalakua Cave, Maui , Hawaii.

Material examined. Paratype on slide, Maui: Ulupalakua Cave, 27.viii.1977, Howarth leg. (# 5444). Deposited in CARC.

Additions to original description. Dorsal cephalic chaetotaxy with 4 antennal (An), 4 median (M), 3 sutural, and 3 in Gr. II (S) ( Fig. 66 ). Labial chaetae as mrel1l2, all smooth; chaeta r 0.65 length of m; chaetae X and X3 tiny; a tiny chaeta present between H2 and H3; chaeta X2 absent; chaeta X3 sometimes absent; chaeta X4 not clearly seen ( Fig. 67 ). Th.II with 2 (m1, m2) medio-medial, 2 (m4, m4p) medio-lateral, and 19 mac; p4 and p 4i as mac. Th.III with 24 mac; 2 (m5, a6) in Gr. III and 3 (p6, m6, m6e) in Gr. IV ( Fig. 68 ). Abd.I with 6 (m2–4, m 2i, m 4i, m4p) mac; mac m 4i sometimes absent. Abd.II with 4(3) (a2, m3, m3e, m3ep) central and 1 (m5) lateral mac; mac a2 often absent. Abd.III with 1 (m3) central and 2 (am6, pm6) lateral mac ( Fig. 69 ). Abd.IV with 4 (I, M,A6, B5) central and 3 (E2–4) lateral mac ( Fig. 70 ).

Ecology. Known only from caves, on rat dung.

Distribution. Maui.

Remarks. This species resembles another Hawaiian species C. borerae . Detailed comparison sees above remarks on C. borerae .
