Notes: When Grisebach (1866) described Miconia chrysandra , basyonim of G. chrysandra , he only mentioned the collection “Wr. 2511 “, without indicating the herbarium where it was housed, which was not a requirement at that time. Duplicates of this collection are found at BM, G-DC, GOET, K, MO, P and YU. In accordance with Art. 9.12 of ICN ( Turland et al. 2018) the collection GOET007994 is designated as lectotype, since it is presents handwritten notes, presumably from Grisebach, that agree with the protologue and the type locality. Furthermore, according to Stafleu & Cowan (1976), the largest number of Grisebach’s type collections are at GOET. This collection has a note made by the American botanist Richard A. Howard dated June 19, 1984, where he determines it as the holotype, although this designation cannot be accepted as valid and must be corrected according to Art. 9.10 of the ICN ( Turland et al. 2018), i.e. the designation of holotype can only be done in the original publication, as it is regulated in Art. 9.1 and 9.3 of the ICN. From this collection we inferred the date of collection of the type specimen since this was not reported by Grisebach (1866) in the protologue.
