A. bellator Szymczakowski, 1968: 15 View in CoL ;
Gnaspini, 1996: 539 (as bellatrix, unjustified emendation [ bellator View in CoL is a noun]; holotype seen); Salgado, 2010c: 213 (restablishment of original spelling, not stated as taxonomic change, probably as a lapsus; assignment to group); Gnaspini & Peck, 2019: 23, 25 (holotype seen; discussion on restablishment of original spelling; assignment to subgroup). Note: We adopt the original spelling.
Holotype male in ZMHB.
Type locality: “Bergland, Cajon”, 1500 m, Cuzco Department, Peru [see Note]. Distribution: Peru: Cuzco Department: known only from vicinity of “type locality” [see Note].
Note: (1) Both “Bergland” and “Cajon” are not precise map localities which we can find in Peru. “Bergland” (“Highlands”, in German) is still used in German touristic texts to refer to the Cuzco area. (2) Papavero (1973: 293 – 295) describes the trips of two Garlepp brothers at the end of the 1800’s and beginning of the 1900’s, Gustav (who collected in Peru) and Otto (who joined his brother in a trip to Bolivia and Colombia), but says nothing about S.V. as it is in Szymczakowski description [and checked against the type labels by Gnaspini & Peck, 2019]—actually, “S. V.” appears in many other specimens in ZMHB, and was used just to abbreviate the German “Sammler, Verkäufer” (“collector, seller”), not meaning to be initials of the collector’s name (Jan Růžička, 2019, personal comm; Bernd Jaeger, 2020, personal comm.). (3) Szymczakowski (1968) adds paratypes from a second locality (“ Peru, Dep. Cuzco, Cosnipata-Ebene, 1000 m ”, also collected by “Garlepp S. V.”), which is a place located in Cuzco Department, and may help as a reference to locate the type locality.
