Distribution: C and E Tanzania.
Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.
Discussion: It is possible that vexillarius and byatti are separate species, as treated by G. M. Allen (1939) and Ellerman (1940). Amtmann (1975) combined them but stated that they may be distinct species.
