Lectotype (Fernald in Rhodora 40: 335, pl. 501, f. 1. 1938): Kalm, Herb. Linn. No. 882.45 ( LINN) .

Current name: Polygala verticillata L. View in CoL ( Polygalaceae ).

Note: Pennell (in Bartonia 13: 10. 1931) wrongly indicated Krieg material (BM-SL) as type and this choice was rejected by Fernald in favour of a Kalm collection in LINN. Reveal & al. (in Huntia 7: 231. 1987) give an extensive review.
