Genus Neoscopus Viraktamath View in CoL
Neoscopus Viraktamath 2007: 26–27 View in CoL . Type species: Neoscopus ceylonensis Viraktamath View in CoL , by original designation.
Diagnosis. Crown and face dorsad of ocelli shagreen. Ocelli closer to eyes than to median line, Clypellus slightly wider at base than at apex. Forewing with two open subapical cells. Metafemur with 2+1 distal macrosetae. Male pygofer with anterior well-developed apodemes, without dorsobasal fracture, pygofer lobe with one recurved ventral marginal process. Anal collar process well-developed. Style with angular projection at base of apophysis, ventral margin serrate. Aedeagus in ventral view narrowed in basal 0.33 then abruptly broadened with angular projections distally. Gonopore subapical on ventral surface.
Remarks. Viraktamath (2007) adequately described the genus and differentiated the genus from Philipposcopus Maldonado-Capriles and Angusticella Maldonado-Capriles which it closely resembles. From the former it differs in having a serrated ventral margin of male style (smooth in Phlipposcopu s) and well-developed anal collar process (absent in Philipposcopus ). From Angusticella it differs in having second apical cell of forewing not pedunculate (pedunculate in Angusticella ) and the male pygofer with posterior spine-like curved process (absent in Angusticella ) in addition to serrated ventral margin of apophysis of the style (smooth in Angusticella ).
