Range: —Eastern Andean slopes from Ecuador to Bolivia (LP); lower montane forests; 750–1600 m.
Ecology: —Uncommon; usually a pioneer on disturbed ground, landslides and roadbanks; 700–1600 m.
Notes: —Often co-occurs with Palhinhaea cernua , from which it deviates by the rigid growth habit, and densely hairy main aerial axes with strongly reflexed leaves.
